Be Kind, Rewind!

Waaaaaaaay back when I was growing up, we had these things called “video cassette recorders” or “VCRs” for short, the DVD or Blu-ray of yester-year, so it was common courtesy to “rewind” the “cassette” back to the beginning before returning it to the “video” store as suggested in the appropriately named movie “Be Kind, Rewind.” Highly recommended if you like clever dumb movies.  Anywho, I digress as usual, tis been a busy couple months of late, starting a new awesome job at a toy store (yes, Chelsea did call!) and flying back home for my little cousin and her amazing group of friend’s graduations at Waikato Uni a couple of weeks ago.

When embarking on this journey in the blogosphere I had absolutely no idea of the who?what?where?when?hows? of doing it and can proudly report I remain clueless at what I’m doing but what I can say with great certainty, is I know the direction I am heading so I guess it’s best to soldier on.

In addition to being a Bad-Ass Mutha-Trucking DJ, travelling the globe and such, I’m going to eventually run an awesome on-line mag, sharing articles (with the help of some kool kats) about, and not limited to, truly inspiring and amazing Pacific Island people both established and up-&-coming, so our young people can have real-life examples to encourage them to do their best in whatever they choose to do with their lives.

You have to be living under a rock if you are unaware of the social issues our young people face such as suicide, alcohol & drug abuse and poor financial literacy just to name a few.  And I find myself lol’ing at the fact that I may in fact find a use for my $40K (and ever-increasing) piece of paper after all.

Fortunately I have stumbled upon my first practice interview/article I’m hoping to report on next week about a phenomenal young Samoan woman I used to attend high school with, choosing to perform “31 Random Acts of Kindness” as opposed to receiving gifts on her 31st birthday!  Like who does that???  Seniar Tufuga does, that’s who!!!

I’m immensely proud and teary, just quietly, as I receive her fb updates and photos of each act and the genuine love she is spreading through her ACTS of kindness and yes, it IS infectious, so I’m paying it forward too!!!

Imagine a world where acts of kindness went un-noticed because that’s just how we roll now?  We’re bombarded with so much hate/rs these days but we can be the change needed to make our world a better place.  I’m taking a leaf out of Seniar’s book and sharing the love through random acts of kindness too and hope you are inspired to do the same after I share her awesome story next week:)

Better living harrrrd everyone and have the most blessed Sunday and an aca-amayzing week xx
